Description
J.C. Leyendecker’s 1918 U.S. Fuel Administration poster urged Americans to buy coal early. The scene depicts a team of draft horses and a coal wagon in the summer, conveying a conservation message from WWI home-front policy. The Fuel Administration, created in 1917, managed coal and oil and promoted daylight saving time to conserve energy.
This is a vintage mini print of that image. Artwork size 3.25 x 5 in. Paper size 4.75 x 5.75 in. Unframed. Ideal for Dark Academia walls, study nooks, and seasonal winter décor.
Historical note: The original poster was printed by Edwards & Deutsch, Chicago, for the U.S. Fuel Administration. Examples are held by the Library of Congress and major museums.
Unique points: compact size for gallery walls; iconic Leyendecker draftsmanship; American industrial and equestrian imagery; easy to frame with a 5×7 mat.
Need-to-know: vintage reproduction of 1918 artwork, not an original 20×30 poster.
